Putt Prep
Putt Prep
By Adele Maurier, Design Coordinator
The staff here at SEE is busy preparing for our 13th Annual Champagne Putt. While it does take a considerable amount of preparation, it is worth it because the event is so much fun! This event is an adult’s only fundraiser that supports SEE’s mission to promote the understanding, enjoyment and achievements of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. For the event we set up an 18-hole science themed mini-golf course in the Science Center. (SEE will be closed Feb. 13th to prepare).
Each year we try to re-design one of the holes and give it a new theme. This year we are re-designing our Monte Carlo hole. This hole is not part of the 18-hole tournament but is one of 3 additional contests that we set up for the event. The hole is unique in the golf world because it is a two story hole. The contestants putt on the upper level at SEE and the ball lands on the green on the lower level. This year we are adding a wheel of chance to the contest as well as a colorful new landing area. This brings a math theme to the putt . Contestants will contemplate statistical probability as they take their shot.
Odds are you will have a fabulous time if you attend the Champagne Putt! Join us for this great event where adults have the science center to themselves. The event is on February 13, 2014. Get all the details here.
This year marks the 2nd year that this event is held in memory of Fred Kfoury Jr. a see board member for over 20 years. Fred loved this event, as you can see in the photo below.
