Exhibit Hall Reopening COVID Policy and Procedures

All policies and procedures in this document that refer to Staff include but are not limited to staff, contractors, and volunteers associated with SEE Science Center.
SEE Staff will work to ensure that all safety controls in this document are adhered to the best of their ability to ensure that all guests have a safe and fun visit and that our organization limits the chance of the spread of COVID-19 on our premises.
Failure to comply with these policies and procedures may result in disciplinary action.
Policy
- Masks must be worn by all individuals older than 2 years of age while entering 200 Bedford Street. Exceptions will be made for any individual who is physically unable to wear a mask in accordance with ADA.
- Staff must wear a SEE Science Center Identification Badge while at 200 Bedford Street.
- Staff must follow cleaning protocol and wear proper PPE when sanitizing surfaces. No staff member may utilize the electrostatic sprayer without first being trained in the proper use and required PPE for this equipment.
- Staff should encourage frequent guest handwashing throughout their visit.
- Museum entry will be limited to 25% capacity during initial opening, visitors will be asked to preregister before arrival.[i] We would not allow more than 80 visitors in the building during any one time slot.
- Groups of 10 or more are prohibited.
Procedures
Museum Open Hours
- During the month of August, the Museum will be open weekends starting with members only.
- The Museum will be open for two (2), three-hour blocks on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors must select a specific slot AM or PM when registering:
- 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
- 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- There will be a one hour slot between visitor shifts to allow staff to deep clean the exhibit floor. 1:00 will be treated like a normal end of day close and visitors will be cleared from the building to allow for cleaning and shutdown.
- All visitors will be asked to pre-register online or by phone for a specific timeslot. Visitors may not enter without preregistering. Visitor Service staff may direct visitors to call the main number 603-699-0400 or register online if they arrive onsite without registration. If slots are available we would allow them to register same day.
Front Entry Check-in Experience
- A staff member will be positioned in the first floor front lobby from 10:00 – 11:00 am and from 2:00 -3:00 pm. During this period the front door of the building will be unlocked and the staff member will greet visitors from a table inside the lobby.
- This staff member will be seated behind a Plexiglas shield.
- Visitors will be checked against the registration list for the day upon entry
- As visitors enter, they will be asked the following questions:
- Have you or anyone in your group had a fever or felt feverish within the last 72 hours?
- Have you or anyone in your group been in close contact with a lab confirmed case of COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
- Have you or anyone in your group been experiencing any new muscle aches or chills?
- Have you or anyone in your group experienced any new change in sense of taste or smell?
- Visitors who answer yes to any of these questions will not be allowed entry further into the building. If they paid, we can assure them that they will be given a refund and ask them to leave the premises.
- During the registration process all visitors over the age of two will be asked to wear masks. Mask wearing will be strictly enforced for all individuals over the age of eight with the exception of those who fall under the ADA exemption.
- If a visitor is not wearing a mask, the Visitor Service Representative may ask: Are you physically able to wear a mask? If the answer is no they will be given a wrist band to alert other staff members not to enforce the mask rule with this individual. No additional questions about why the individual can’t wear a mask can be asked in accordance with ADA.
- Visitors who arrive without masks will be provided with a complimentary mask upon entry. They will be encouraged to make a small donation for the mask, but this will not be required and masks will not be withheld.
- Once visitors have passed initial check-in they will be directed towards elevator or/stairs. Visitors will be asked to take the stairs if able to prevent crowing in the elevator. They will then proceed to check-in like normal on the 4th
Visitor Rules
- All visitors over the age of two will be required to wear masks with the exception of those who fall under the ADA exemption.
- Visitors will be asked to practice social distancing while in the Museum.
Visit Details
- Guest coat racks will not be available, cubbies will be available and guests may request a Clorox wipe to sanitize their cubby before use.
- During the first few weekends we will not be providing floor demos, these may be added in at a later date as staff get used to new procedures.
- The store will be open, but materials displayed in grab bins will be temporarily taken off the shelves and only 1 family will be allowed in the store at a time.
- Vending Machines and coffee machine will be open wipes will be provided for vending machine
- The following exhibit experiences will not be available for guests when the Museum reopens: Bernoulli Blower; Bubble Solution Station; Duplo build station.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use one of our many hand sanitizing stations. We’ve also installed additional hand washing sinks on the exhibit floor on the 4th
- Common areas and touch points will undergo disinfection twice daily. Additionally, our team will frequently clean and disinfect all surfaces and high-frequency touchpoints throughout the day every two hours.
Staff
- All Staff will be provided with 3 SEE Science Center reusable safety masks as part of their jobsite PPE.
- Staff will be issued a SEE Science Center identification badge that should be worn at all times during open hours. This badge will show a photograph of their non-mask face. This is to help visitors feel comfortable and develop rapport with Staff.
- All staff will be trained in general safe sanitizing practices. Senior Staff will be trained in the cleaning of bodily fluids (BBP Training) and safe use of the electrostatic sprayer (respirator training).
- Plexi safety barrier will be present at the front desk, and at the downstairs sign-in station.
Sanitizing
- See full list of exhibit cleaning procedures with details per exhibit.
- All high-touch general surfaces will be sanitized before each shift and once during each visitor shift. These include door handles, toilet and faucet handles, and a select list of exhibit parts.
- In the morning and during the hour long-break at midday there will be a set list of items to sanitize before guests arrive. All staff onsite must participate in cleaning during these shifts. See full exhibit list for details.
- Some exhibits will have swap out parts
- Some will have surface wipe down requirements
- Others will require UV light sanitization
Posted Signage
- Concierge Signage at the door once the one-hour check-in station has been broken down.
- Handwashing/ sanitation station signage/ Clearer signage to restrooms
- On vending machine and coffee station pointing to the front desk.
- Visitor rules policy posting at entry lobby and second floor
- [i] Occupancy is listed at 350 people per floor; this includes specialty spaces, storage and staff areas. If we account for just exhibit spaces we have roughly 6,000 SF on floor4 and 8,000 SF on floor 3. Normal occupancy for the exhibit halls only would be roughly 140 4th floor, and roughly 187 bottom floor. 25% capacity is 35 visitors on the 4th floor and 47 visitors on the 3rd We would aim for a max total number of visitors at 80 visitors in the building at any one time to start out.
