Park2Park Community Clean-up
Park 2 Park is a collaborative partnership between the SEE Science Center, Manchester Connects and the City of Manchester to help clean up city parks and streets.
“Like many City residents SEE Science Center does not have our own outdoor space and relies on our City Parks every year. This effort on the eve of Earth Day will help get the city ready so that residents and visitors can enjoy the outdoors and connect with our urban ecosystem within our amazing City Park System” said Shana Hawrylchak, SEE Executive Director. “This year is the 180th Anniversary of the founding of Manchester, and the 40th anniversary of the SEE Science Center so we are excited to partner together to help keep our public spaces vibrant. Last year’s Park2Park event brought out 225 volunteers, let’s see if we can match those numbers!”
Since there will be some navigating of streets, individual volunteers must be 18+ to participate. Volunteers aged 12-17 may sign up with an authorized legal guardian to work as a 1 on 1 pair. Park meet-up locations will be assigned and sent out to all volunteers by April 1st.
Groups and individuals that sign up by April 1st will be supplied with pickers, gloves, blue bags, doggie poop bags and sharps containers during the event. Groups and individuals that sign up after April 1st may not get pickers but will get all other supplies.
Note all volunteers will receive a quick orientation when they arrive at their assigned park and must sign a waiver and photo release at that time.
Interested individuals or companies can sign up to volunteer by writing to volunteer@see-sciencecenter.org with the subject line Park2Park.
